*((Conference Room One =E2=80=93 Duronis II Embassy))*

Once the first introductions were made, Sirok looked for a place to sit
while the rest of the officers arrived. At least thanks to the rest of the=

conversations he began to have first hand information about what happened.

*Wilkins: *Any news on how the Executive Officer is recovering?

At practically the same time that Wilkins was asking Teller, he made an
entrance. It was clearly not his best day.

*Teller:* Very well, thank you Ensign Wilkins. I'm glad to see all of you=

back here and in one piece. Mr. Pandorn, if I didn't properly express my=

appreciation at the time, allow me to now - thanks for getting that shuttle=

off my arm.

*Pandorn:* No thanks needed, Commander. You'd have done the same if i was=

the one who had a shuttle dropped on him. ::indicates Sirok next to him::=

This is Ensign Sirok. Another engineer which we sorely needed.

*Sirok:* Sir, if you're not feeling well you can communicate from the
infirmary. Even if you are prepared for an HME you might almost feel like=

you are in the conference room.

Teller nodded towards the new officer and smiled, without paying attention=

to his proposal.

*Teller:* Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Sirok. We can always use another good=

engineer - welcome.

Deena took a seat at the table as he continued to talk.

*Teller:* While we wait, maybe you can bring me up to speed. I reviewed=

the Thor's mission files when I was transferred here, so I know there was=

an incursion into Romulan space recently, but I don't know the context.
Can you take me through the highlights?

Recalling the messy and convoluted details of their last mission, Deena
exchanged a knowing look with Pandorn, Lovar, and Garcia.

*Pandorn*: The short version is that t e Tal Shiar was cooking up a
bio-weapon that they intended to unleash on a few Federation and Romulan
Republic worlds. We had to breach Romulan space and destroy the virus and=

the facility producing it. And a pleasure cruiser that was hijacked for
test subjects. Very insidious plan they had.

*Garcia*: Response

*Quen: *A virus. I'll spare you the details, but our former Chief o=
f
Surgery rather ...creatively described it as =E2=80=98the zombie virus=E2=
=80=99. Nasty
piece of work...

*Lovar:* Response

*Wilkins: * Response

At last he sat down while the rest of the officers arrived and left his bag=

full of pads on the side of the chair. He found the number of officers in=

the Marine Corps curious, he thought that an embassy would rely more on
security members than on a fighting force. Although it was in any case a
fact that that embassy had quite large forces, the Thor and the Thunder
were two heavily armed ships. From what you read in fleet history, on DS9=

when the wormhole was discovered it only had a few Runaboats and even then=

it was only assigned the Defiant additionally.

*Turner:* First of all I want to welcome Ensigns Alieth, Sirok, Wilkins,
and 2nd Lt. Greaves to the Senior Staff. You couldn't have come at a better=

time as far as our need for you, nor the worst time, considering we are at=

war with the Tel Shiar. And make no mistake firing on one of our shuttles=

causing it to crash and kidnapping one of us was indeed an act of war we
cannot, nor will not, ignore.

Sirok and Alieth looked at each other for a moment and nodded. In
recognition of each other, from some point of view it might seem that they=

would smile, but it would be nothing more than an optical illusion.

The admiral waved her hand, and a chart of the Typhon Expanse came up above=

the tabletop.

*Turner: *Additionally, Intelligence reported, a ship, most likely a
Warbird, barely on the edge of their sensor range and deep inside Romulan=

territory had left its base like a bat out of hell a few minutes earlier.=

It was pushing its engines so hard, it disrupted its cloaking device just=

enough to leave a small particle footprint behind. A few possible
destinations have been projected, including: ::pointing on the chart to
blank space:: a previously uncharted system within the Typhon Expanse.
Long-range sensor readings of that system were distorted, but they showed=

the unmistakable traces of a material that was close to the top of the
Federations hazardous substances list. Proto-matter, and a lot of it.
Enough, if used as a weapon, could totally devastate any system in the
Universe.

Obviously the presence of protomatter was something to be considered. He
realized that he had to go over what he knew for his collecting. Handling=

something like this was really dangerous, he knew it could be gathered with=

the transporters, but they should have the containers ready. In addition,=

he would have to start thinking about making the calculations to do the
destruction of it in situ and its possible reaction with the Typhon
Expansion.

*Turner:* For this mission, we will need two teams. The Search Team to find=

and recover Lt. Cmdr. Addison MacKenzie and her captors, comprised of the=

following:

Lt. Cmdr. Teller, Major Parker, Lt. Col. Mitchell, 2nd Lt. Greaves and
other Marines designated by Major Parker.

Interception Team will accompany me on the USS Thunder - A, with Lt.
Commander Alex Brodie as Acting First Officer, Lt. Ben Garcia at helm, Lt.=

Commander Krindo Pandorn and Ensign Sirok as engineers, Lt. Quen Deena
(Acting CMO) and Ensign Alieth in Medical, Lt. Lorian Lovar and Ensign
Wilkins in Science.

My reason for taking the Thunder is tactical. Although a smaller ship, she=

is a battlecruiser and has the weaponry to back her up. And like the Thor=

she is equipped with Quantum Slip-Stream Warp Drive (QSD) We don't know
what we will need out there, but the Thunder will likely have more of it.

*Wilkins*: Should everyone on the Intercept Team be armed with phasers?

*Turner*: Absolutely, since there is the possibility that we could be
boarded. We'll have several Marine fireteams on board but everyone must
take responsibility for their own safety too.

*Mitchell*: Ma'am, I have Lightning and Falcon squadrons currently =
helping
the Bronwyn and Bondi on barrier patrol around the planet. Six Lancers and=

six updated Peregrines. Their normally based space side on the Thunder. Do=

you want them along with you for this run?

*Turner*: Yes, I think it would be prudent should the Warbird engages us in=

battle. Thank you Rode for pointing that asset out to me, but let's leave=

three Lancers and three Peregrines here to help back up the Bronwyn, Bondi,=

and now, the Thor.

*Mitchell:* Yes ma'am.

*Pandorn*: There is something that is puzzling me about this kidnapping. It=

seems like two separate incidents doesn't it? This might be the Tactical
Officer in me, but what if they are linked somehow?

*Turner*: Response

*Pandorn*: We used an inventive diversion to get to Thendara Two and Jorok=

Three, maybe they are trying something similar? They will need to go
through this sector to get to the Typhon Expanse quickly instead of going=

the long way around. I think the hit team is on a suicide mission.
::shudders at the implication::

*Turner*: Response

*Alieth*: Sir, I suggest the Search Team include a medical officer. :: She=

droned. Her voice was as even and unemotional as it had been on sickbay,
yet it was quieter than it had been before, almost certainly shy :: Given=

Commander Teller's physical condition, our lack of knowledge about the
CMO's status and the likelihood of the team engaging in combat, it is
logical that a doctor should be present on the team.

*Turner*: response

*Sirok*: Admiral, according to the data I have available the Thor has a
Typhon Shield that protects it from the temporal anomalies present in the=

expansion. Also, its quantum engine system is more efficient than the
Thunder's, ::It didn't want to expand from why but the basic difference is=

that one ship was designed for that engine while the other had to be
adapted to have one. :: The transporter system is more modern and safer to=

beam the protomatter. If we were on the Thunder we would have to try to
replicate the typhonic shield.

*Turner*: response

*Staff members*: Response

*Parker: *A word with you Admiral before you beam up...

*Turner:* Certainly, Hanniball.

Turning to the damp marine sitting next to him, Hannibal spoke...

*Parker:* Welcome to Duronis, Lieutenant...

*Greaves:* response

*Parker:* I'm going to go talk to the Admiral. Meanwhile, get yourself
acquainted with the rest...

*Greaves*: response

When the conversation had died down a bit, Teller stood slowly and
addressed the room.

*Teller:* You folks heard the Admiral - Intercept Team, rally out front of=

the admin building in five minutes for transport to the Thunder. Ground
team, we'll be using the Ops center as a war room until further notice -
Major Parker, Lt. Col Mitchell & 2nd Lt. Greaves - meet me there and we'll=

start formulating a tactical plan. ::He offered them a tight, knowing
smile:: I realize this isn't how anybody expected today to go...but this is=

the life we chose. Good hunting to you all. Dismissed.

*Turner*: Daroo, somehow you were left off a team, but I would appreciate=

it if you would accompany the Ground team to the Ops Center.

*Pandorn*: Are you sure you're up for this, Geoff? You look like you went a=

few rounds with a pissed off Nausiccan. As if they're never pissed
off...::weak grin::

*Teller*: Response

*Pandorn*: Aye, sir. ::to Sirok:: Let's go, Ensign. we need to prepare the=

Thunder-A.

*Sirok*: One question, sir. Why do you add the A after the name Thunder
every time it is named? I understand that it is the second of its name and=

she will have it because the previous ship will have had a distinguished
service, but since that ship is probably decommissioned there is no point=

only be used when you want to distinguish it specifically from its
predecessor. Any other use is quite illogical and inefficient.

*Pandorn*: Response

The Vulcan took his bag and asked as they made their way to the transporter=

platform. As Pandorn had said, they had to prepare the ship.
