(OOC: Starting with a bit of a back sim first.)

(Conference Room 1 - Main Building - Embassy - Duronis II)

Mitchell: Ma'am, I have Lightning and Falcon squadrons currently he=
lping
the Bronwyn and Bondi on barrier patrol around the planet. Six Lancers and=

six updated Peregrines. Their normally based space side on the Thunder. Do=

you want them along with you for this run?

Turner: Yes, I think it would be prudent should the Warbird engages us in=

battle. Thank you Rode for pointing that asset out to me, but let's leave=

three Lancers and three Peregrines here to help back up the Bronwyn, Bondi,=

and now, the Thor.

Mitchell: Yes ma'am.

oO I better get Merlin up there as well. Lighting's CO is a bit hea=
d
strong, and Falcon's is a too passive. Oo

(Main Timeline - Hallway outside the Conference Rooms.)

Mitchell: :: Catching up. :: Thanks. Just wanted to share a couple of
things with you about the Thunder-A.

Garcia: :: Self-deprecatingly. :: You mean ... don't crash th=
e Major's wings?

Ben smiled and then continued.

Garcia: Hazarding a guess ... there's been some modification=
s...

Mitchell: Well, being Marines and plus Major Parker, we added more armor
and weaponry, so she's has a bit more mass than the typically Akira=
. So we
had to add extra thrusters to compensate.

Garcia: :: Laughing at himself. :: Saves me a couple of embarrassing
manoeuvers figuring it out. :: Ben shifted his weight and bit his lip
gently. :: She's not as nibble as originally spec'd then?

Mitchell: Yeah, she's not quite got the turning ability of a Defian=
t or a
Sabre, with that ability to turn inside themselves, but she will turn on a=

dime now instead of a quarter. And she does a heck of a slide as your
spitting torpedoes.

Ben leant in enthusiastically.

Garcia: Yea =E2=80=93 the manoeuver with the Red Star ... :: Ben paus=
ed thoughtfully.
:: ... using the fighter birds ... :: Ben shook his head in def=
eat. :: What was
that?

Mitchell: ::grinning like an idiot with pride.:: Oh the Spitball! That=E2=
=80=99s a
classic old school move for an Akira class ship. Fire the main torpedoes in=

the sail with the main shuttle bay doors open. As soon as they clear the
bow, the fighters just inside the bay fire their micro torps as well. The=

little ones fly faster so they hit first and weaken the shields for the big=

boys to pass through. Mixing in phaser fire takes the target's shie=
lds down
even faster. Superiority through overwhelming fire power.

Garcia: That was slick. :: Ben shook his head in disbelief at what he=E2=80=
=99d
seen. :: Ingenious.

Mitchell: Yup. Wish I could take the credit, but someone thought it up back=

during the Dominion war, probably a moment of extreme desperation. I picked=

up on the Discovery-A for use at a similar moment.

Garcia: :: Eagerly. :: While I've got you Colonel, is there anythin=
g else
to know?

Mitchell: Well...there's a few other modifications the Major =
has put in,
including one major one, but that's classified uber, uber, uber-sec=
ret. I
only know cause of the Red Star mission and he threatened to pound me
through concrete with his fist if I leaked it. I think its what he went to=

talk to the Admiral about actually. So if things get tough, ::giving Garcia=

a double wink:: remind her of the Major's special sneak mod.

Garcia: response

Mitchell: The rest is most stuff to better house Marines like less creature=

comforts, more double bunks in quarters, etc. The Thor gets the creature
comforts, while the Thunder-A is the hard, battle craft.

Garcia: response

Mitchell: Ok, safe flying. And no more crashing. Unless its into that
Warbird. Crashing a cruiser or larger into one of those on purpose is
allowed. ::grinning again:: It'll even make you part of a special c=
lub.

Garcia: response

The two officers headed their separate ways, Garcia to the transporter most=

likely, while Mitchell made his way to his office before heading down to
the Ops center. The Embassy was unique in that it had three separate Ops
centers spread across its buildings. While the one in the Embassy's=

basement was the Primary one for use by the Ambassador and the Admiral,
there was a smaller Marine operations center over in the Marine building,=

which was used for just Marine deployments, plus a third smaller Ops center=

existed out at the Hangar complex next to the spaceport for controlling the=

Tactical wing's craft. Once either Marine teams or fighters and bom=
bers
were deployed, control went from their separate Ops centers over the main=

Embassy one for use He reached his office as it wasn't far, and log=
ged into
the com system.

Mitchell: =/\= Mitchell to Conway, and Bronwyn Actual. =/\=

Conway: =/\=Go Boss. =/\=

S.Parker (response)

Mitchell: =/\= The Admiral is taking the Thunder out for an assignment.=
I
need to have six fighters given a temporary home during that. And adjust
the orbital patrols too. =/\=

Conway: =/\= Which fighters Mav? The Peregines handle like tanks in at=
mo.
=/\=

S.Parker (response)

Mitchell: =/\= Three Lancers and three Peregines. She wants half of eac=
h
squad with the ship for the mission. =/\=

S.Parker (response)

Mitchell: =/\= Good idea! I hadn't thought of that one yet. And=
your right,
the Thor does have that nice large empty shuttle bay going to waste. I=E2=
=80=99ll
put them there. Thanks Steph.

S.Parker (response)

Conway: =/\= Whose the detachment CO? You? =/\=

Mitchell: =/\= Negative. I have another assignment. Better grab your go=
bag
and get up to the Thunder, Merlin. You can front seat one of the Peregines=

as DC, and Photon can fly with me until you get back.

Conway: =/\= Awww man. Trading in my sweet ride for a clunker. Sounds l=
ike
the good ole days. =/\=

Mitchell: =/\= Good thing you cut your teeth flying Peregines, Merlin. =
Have
Lightning One, Two and Four recover on board the Thor. Take Three, Five and=

Six with you. Reverse goes for Falcons. Three, Five and Six move to the
Thor, while One, Two and Four go with the Thunder. Captain Johns of the
Lightning is senior of the group moving to the Thor. =/\=

Conway: =/\= Roger that sir. I'll be back....=/\=

Mitchell: ::laughing as he hung the call.:: =/\= Of that I have no doub=
t.
