((USS Atlantis, Deck 4, Training Holodeck)) ::Together with Ensign Tarik and two nurses, Isabel was in the holodeck up = in the security department. She had prepared a small team building exercise= for the newest additions to the medical team.:: ::Previously, she had been very unsure if she would go down in history as t= he CMO who would ruin the relationship with her subordinates with this dril= l in the middle of shore leave. But Tarik, probably adhering to Vulcan trad= ition, seemed not too upset about the diminished shore leave time. However,= the nurses put up some rather peculiar looks after his statement.:: ::The Trill was happy anyway and presented the scenario.:: Pond: For today, we're going for a bit later in the history of medi= cal practice and use the means of early 21st century earth medicine to trea= t our fictional patient. This allows us to focus on the anatomical details = while we have not to worry too much about inadequate tools. Any questions? Tarik: Yes lieutenant. Am I to take on the mindset of a human doctor in the= 21st century? Or can I use all my knowledge and skills as a modern physici= an? Pond: You're absolutely allowed to use any knowledge you have. We= 're not staging a play here, we're practicing using our med= ical knowledge to make the best of a difficult situation. ::Isabel made a small pause and looked at everyone else, giving the chance = to ask other questions.:: Nurse: Can we fail the exercise? ::Isabel had liked Tarik's question much more. She knew the reason = for such an utterance from her study days. The young nurse was testing the = waters if it was useful to make an effort or if it was viable to sit the dr= ill out.:: ::She had a strong look at the Andorian male, making clear that she did not= like the attitude.:: Pond: ::dangerously calm:: You're not in training anymore. We=E2=80= =99re not =E2=80=9Efailing=E2=80=9C anyone. I still expect the same effort = and dedication from everyone as if this was a real emergency. ::Possibly daunted by the not so sensitive response, no-one had another que= stion. Isabel started the program and a hallway appeared around them. Two f= igures in white protective clothing were momentarily frozen a bit further d= own.:: Pond: Let's start then and we're back out of here in 30 min= utes. Ensign Tarik, I want you to take the lead and use all the resources a= t hand, including the crewmen and myself. Tarik: Very well. Lieutenant, can you describe our situation? ::Isabel hadn't really thought of a background story to all of this= . But she cared enough to quickly think of something. It wasn't som= ething brilliant, but at least it was somewhat possible. Pond: Uhm After an attack with an EMP or something a lot of electr= onic devices are out of function. The attackers were repelled but the damag= e not yet fixed. This civilian hospital has asked for our help to take care= of their regular patients. ::The simulation started running. The two people in the white suits took a = door on the left. A rich soundscape added to the immersive effect of the pr= ogram, Isabel hoped that it would add to the stress of the situation.:: Pond: We have a patient that came in with severe stomach pain with no evide= nt reason. No tests have yet been conducted, it could literally be anything= . Tarik: Where is our patient? Pond: Room 201. ::They proceeded to the room which was right next to the one where the suit= ed up staff went. Isabel wondered if Tarik would draw any conclusion from t= hat happening.:: Pond: ::reading from a clipboard that has appeared in her hand:: The patien= t is Anna Meyer, Human female, 29 years old, no known relevant medical hist= ory. She has already received strong pain meds. ::They walked to the bed, Isabel signaled Tarik to lead the way.:: Tarik: Response Patient: ::weakly:: Nice to meat you. Its bearable with the meds. ::Shortly after she had said it, a cramp struck her stomach which made her = wince from pain.:: Pond: What should we do, Doctor? Tarik: Response __________________ Lt Isabel Pond Chief Medical Officer USS Atlantis D239212IP0 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "= UFOP: StarBase 118: USS Atlantis" group.
