::Poq pulled out some schematics to show the rest of the group. .::
Avran: About 90 seconds of effective use before degradation begins and the =
risk of exposure begins to increase exponentially.
Poq: Exactly. Backup filters won't do anything either because they'll fall =
apart just as easily, and there's no room in the suit for a totally differe=
nt backup. We need a way to purge the new compound somehow.
Any: ?
Avran: It's not ideal, but we could also just deactivate the filtra=
tion system altogether once we are maneuvering through the affected areas. =
Rig the suits with spare oxygen. It would mean that we'd be working=
against the clock, though.
Je'Valak: I don't like the idea of losing that much oxygen. Is there a way =
to add more?
Poq: If by oxygen you mean the atmosphere we breathe ::Poq muttered under h=
er breath. But that wasn't really her concern. If they stayed inside the de=
ath fog after the filters degraded and the neutralizing compound was used u=
p, they'd be back to 'death,' no matter how much breathable atmosphere they=
had available. Shutting down the system was smart, but not completely fail=
safe:: Doubling the internal system is a good idea, but it may not be enoug=
h.The degraded filters give external atmo a way to get inside- even shut do=
wn there'll be a weak point.
Any: ?
Poq: Ideally if we had a layer of solid matter that could- sponge up the co=
mpound somehow, become a binder, the way carbon monoxide binds to red blood=
cells, then it would completely inert.
Any: ?
::The doctor typed something into the display system, and two molecular str=
uctures popped up. One, the Death Fog, Silicon Platinochloride. The other, =
the responding compound she had developed. They merged together to form a c=
omplex structure, fine labeling beneath showing its complete chemical makeu=
p.::
Poq: There's our challenge. Anyone have an idea?
Kasun :: Ishani smiled as she watched the group work. :: oO We've g=
ot a good mix of expertise. Oo :: Also helping was the fact that Taelon was=
both willing and able to take charge this time. ::
Any: ?
::Je'Valak studied the display. For the first time in a long time she felt =
blank. She could come up with no ideas.::
Poq/Kasun/Avran/Taelon: Response
Je'Valak: what if we added plant microbes to the filters. Something like Ch=
rysalidocarpus lutescents. It's a number one natural filter. It wouldn't ta=
ke long to do.
Poq/Kasun/Avran/Taelon: Response
Je'Valak: I would need some help replacing each filter.
