((Main Sickbay, USS Veritas)) :: Greywin saw the shift in lighting while he was finishing his rounds on patients with minor injuries, such as papercuts and pulled muscles. Ice packs and cold compresses were his specialty, and he was grateful for the chance to round up personnel instead of ice because he had to regain feeling in his hands. He put them both in his pockets as he rallied up the troops once he heard Dr. Skyfire on approach. Once the CMO appeared, he had the entire department standing at attention. :: Skyfire: We need to be on our toes for possible incoming or deployment. I= 'm nae sure what condition our fellow colleagues are in, so we need to be at the ready. :: to Alexander :: Have you run your once-over? Alexander: ::smiles:: Nearly, Doctor. Just a few more items on the checklist. Skyfire: Dr. Alexander, continue with your preparedness checks. Dr. Swift, alert all personnel to stand by in case we need to call a code blue, then give Dr. Alexander a hand with the inventories. Ensign Fergus, organize the nurses and begin preparations for possible surgery and critical care patients. :: Trauma triage and preparedness were lessons he had practical experience with, and surprisingly enough under Dr. Skyfire. First there was the Maquis Reborn and PFR on Deep Space Ten, then there was the aftermath of the Antor II explosion and the complications therein. Perhaps even more surprising than that was afterward his conversation with Ambassador Calderan to transfer aboard the Garuda for a chance to learn how to be a doctor from Skyfire. :: :: Still, the matter at hand was inventory -- something he'd grown = quite good at since enrolling in the distance learning program. :: Fergus: Aye, sir. I took recent stock of the inventory when we were docked at Outpost 3, so I'll turn over my notes. Swift: Aye, Lieutenant. I can do both simultaneously. Skyfire: Very good. Mr. Coleman, I'd like you to alert the paramedi= cs we may need them as well. :: then, to the assembled group. :: Any questions? Swift: None, as yet, sir. :: Despite Greywin knew it had been eight long months since the Gorkon, Chythar seemed to assume the role with a practiced ease, cool as a cucumber. He was asking preparedness questions that made it seem like he'd never left the role. :: Alexander: ::smiles:: No, sir. Coleman: Response Skyfire: Mr. Coleman. :: He paused and looked for a way to begin. :: I look forward to working with you more in light of Dr. Ryan's departure. Don't hesitate to ask questions if they come up, alright? Coleman: Response Swift: By the way, any reason why Dr. Ryan departed, so suddenly? :: Out of the corner of his eye, Greywin saw Dr. Alexander flinch a bit and grimace at the same time. While the young Canadian was naturally curious, he felt that there probably would've been a better time to ask; yet= , at the same time he suspected the entire department was probably curious why he was leading them instead of Dr. Ryan. Some things did not need to be answered right away, so Greywin was caught by surprise when this question had an immediate answer. :: Skyfire: Only that Dr. Ryan has been assigned elsewhere. I dinnae feel that's important at the moment, Dr. Swift. That's all for t= he moment. Swift: Understood. I'll get on those tasks, right now. Skyfire: Very good. :: As CD retreated into his office without so much glancing behind him, Greywin stood baffled for a few moments. Did he really just do that? Answer a question as to why he was in charge without batting an eyelash? Apparently, Fergus wasn't the only one. Alexander turned to Fergus = once Skyfire had gone. She seemed to have a look of concern etched into her features. .:: Alexander: ::pauses:: Does he seem a bit off to you? Fergus: I...I suppose? I mean...um...how do I put this? Alexander: I almost expected him to show some sort of emotion, but...nothing. Not so much as a flinch. Fergus: He didn't even bat an eyelash when Dr. Swift asked about Dr= . Ryan's abrupt departure. Alexander: ::sighs:: I do wonder what will happen if Commander Blair doesn't return soon. :: Greywin nodded slightly. He wanted to help in more ways than keeping the boss out of sickbay, but knew that wasn't likely to happen. :: Fergus: Is that why he seems so...out of it? Much as I hate to admit this, it seems like he's reverted back to his workaholic tendencies. Almo= st as though he's marrying his job. Alexander: ::grimaces:: Yes. A habit I've been trying to break him = of, sadly, without much success. Fergus: Would it be wise to mention this to anyone else? I mean, it=E2=80= =99s not healthy for him by a longshot. Alexander: Response :: Greywin nodded again and retrieved his PADD to give to her as they continued to talk while setting about their assigned duties. It was a point of concern, after all. His friends had noticed, and asked to be alerted if he tried over-working himself; but had Chythar noticed himself? Greywin was no psychologist, but it seemed like some sort of depression that couldn=E2= =80=99t be worked out alone. :: Fergus: Oh, I don't know. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but Dr. Ro= sek asked me to keep her posted if he tries slipping back in when he's supposed to be off duty.
