Find an error in sim? Report it!
((Holodeck 1 - USS Constitution)) Traenor: ::reading the control screen:: "The Red Dragon's Hoard". Oof. What a mouthful. Mason: What kind of party is that? ::Sarah was confused by the name.. it sounded like an old Earth tavern or something.:: Traenor: Either way, we're about to find out. Let's crash this party! Computer, terminate program. Computer: Unable to comply. Current program is restricted. ::Restricted? Well that certainly didn't make any sense. She was un= der the impression that this was an open program for multiple crew members. Certainly two former XOs would be able to access that? She turned to Maxwell who also appeared to be perplexed.:: Mason: Maybe only the creator can end the program? Traenor: ::shrugging his shoulders:: Computer, can we enter the currently running program? Computer: Negative. Due to safety concerns, access to a live-fire training exercise is restricted. Traenor: Live-fire exercise? What in the world does that mean? Mason: That's certainly not the party I was expecting.. ::They reviewed the control panel and Maxwell seemed to have more insight now.:: Traenor: This can't be right! According to this, the holodeck is drawing demands of the computer core unlike anything I've ever heard of before. I cannot even fathom what would require so much computing power! Mason: What the hell? This makes no sense. What is happening in there? Traenor: Do you think we can hail any of the officers within? If we can get whoever started this program to terminate it, that's good enough for me. Mason: Well we can certainly try! ::she pressed her commbadge:: =3D/\=3D Cm= dr Mason to Captain Rajel =3D/\=3D ::There was silence, so she tried again. Still nothing. She shook her head, exasperated. So much of rotate attempt.:: Traenor: ::contemplatively:: I keep coming back to these computational numbers. You could run a small colony off these values, and this one holodeck is gobbling up these processing resources and clamoring for more. Even with the computer core upgrade, I can well imagine this is more than the Conny's computers can handle. No wonder everything on the ship is stuttering. Mason: I see what you mean. It's more complex than any code I=E2=80= =99ve ever seen outside theoretical and experimental work. It's overloading the pro= cessors and drawing too much power. Traenor: ::nodding:: But what I can't understand is, what could they possibly be running in there that would lead to this draw? ::with a stagger of realization:: But I know who might be able to figure it out. ::with a wink:: I've got a guy. ::Sarah wondered who Maxwell was referring to, but she didn't have = to wait very long. He pulled out a device and she quickly realized it was a communications device of some sort. She listened as he updated the officer on the situation at hand.:: Traenor: =3D/\=3D Commander Traenor to Ensign Paku. =3D/\=3D Paku: =3D/\=3D Paku here, Commander. What seems to be the problem? =3D/\=3D Traenor: =3D/\=3D Well, Mr Paku, I think you were right to be concerned abo= ut the holodeck. It's locked up tight with the senior officers inside, and we can't even hail them. =3D/\=3D Paku: ::smiling to himself:: =3D/\=3D Partitioned communication lockout. We= 're starting to see it all over the ship, not just the holodecks, sir. =3D/\=3D Traenor: =3D/\=3D That's not even the worst of it. The holodeck is drawing = an enormous amount of computational resources. Is this something to do with that Faust unit that your cohorts mentioned earlier? =3D/\=3D Paku: ::pleasantly:: =3D/\=3D Oh, that's very likely, sir! Holodeck= 1 is the only system that isn't showing an error of any kind, which is likel= y by design! There's probably something in there that wants to kill us! = =3D/\=3D Traenor: ::concern growing:: =3D/\=3D Meet me in the main Security office. = I want to learn more about this Faust Control Unit. Traenor out. =3D/\=3D ::With that, Maxwell turned back to Sarah. She listened intently as he explained that he was going to investigate the Security side of things. She nodded her understanding. As he left, she decided her best option was to work on the code that was overloading the system. She wasn't a soft= ware engineer, but she was decent at identifying patterns. If she could make some sense of the code, maybe she could get someone in engineering to undo it?:: (OOC- More incoming! -Mel) TBC =E2=80=94=E2=80=94=E2=80=94=E2=80=94=E2=80=94=E2=80=94=E2=80=94=E2=80=94 Commander Sarah Mason Mission Specialist USS Constitution-B A238908T10 NOTE: All thoughts and actions of my character are purely IC and are not a representation of my OOC thoughts and feelings. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "= UFOP: StarBase 118 - USS Constitution-B" group.
