He is just a little= blown away, not to mention frustrated that he's not figured all this out yet... haha)) Ren: Sir, do you want me to tell them anything else? Young: No point. ::He slumped in his chair.:: The Commline just went dead. Spears: At least we know they're alive. Now we just need to figure = out how to get them back Blair/Ren/Horne/Davis: response Ren: Commander, I think I have figured out what's going on here. Anyone: response ::Raven slowly turned his head and shoulders around and stared blankly at= her. Could the counselor have figured all this out when he, the ranking science officer could not? Perhaps her Trill heritage held some secret scientific knowledge that he himself wasn't aware of?:: Young: oO Really? Oo ::Slowly:: By all means. What do you think? Ren: I think the teams and the probe have crossed into a time rift....another time in space...more specifically, 20th century Earth. That= would explain the music from that period. I believe that we can bring the= teams back whent they try and come back. However, it will take a lot of= work on our part. Young: Wha?? ::He gasped:: That's one hell of an assumption, counselor! Spears: I don't think any of us are going to gripe about rolling our sleeves up and putting the work into getting our crew back... Anyone: response Ren: We have to creat a time rift of our own and focus it into the rift that's out there. Hopefully, we can get them back, when they blast away from the planet. ::Ed couldn't keep the surprise off his face this time. He looked pleadingly at Raven. Raven was glad he was sitting down else he might have= just fallen over. He gave Ed an equally mystified expression.:: Young: By Phobos, are you freaking kidding? ::Raven didn't know how to respond at all. What Ensign Ren was saying was= certainly possible at a stretch but he couldn't help feel she had jumped to= this conclusion prematurely. He started fidgeting with his bracer again.:: Spears: I'm sorry, but create a time rift of our own. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't doing that, firstly, quite beyond our capabilities and second, quite against Starfleet regulations? ::Raven nodded somberly. The last time an officer, Lt Commander Tam broke= the rules around him (and committed treason) he'd fought tooth and nail to= make sure she was locked away for a very long time. Raven couldn't very well argue to break the rules himself. After purposefully hiding an injury= in the pursuit of justice for the crew of the USS Geneva, that would make= him the biggest hypocrite going.:: Anyone: response Young: Not to mention bloody dangerous. I wouldn't have a clue where to start. Ren: Well, we have to work with quantum signature, Sir. Perhaps, I'm not= saying it will work, but perhaps it will penetrate the chriaton spikes and= the interference enough to bring out people back when it's time. Young: We're dealing with a zero point phenomenon here. One mistake and we= could level half the sector. The amount of energy that could be contained= in that thing is astronomical. ::He spread his arms to emphasize the point.:: Granted, Chroniton particles are subatomic particles in nature, but the rift just throws all known science out the airlock. Spears/Blair/Davis/Horne: Response Ren: We need an engineer and a science team. Young: And i'm gonna need some strong painkillers and a Raktajino. ::To Ed:: My brain just blew up. ::He smirked.:: ::Honestly, there was a reasonable chance that finding a solution to the problem would involve some sort of tampering with quantum mechanics. That= didn't mean they should however. Murphy's law had already proven that if something could go wrong today, it would. It had. Raven was all for exploration and new discoveries but even he knew not to screw around with= things that he knew little about and could blow up in his face. Raven cupped his face in his hands and rubbed his eyes. It was going to be= a long day.:: Spears/Ren/Blair/Davis/Horne: Response Young: ::Deep sigh:: Okay, what's your thoughts Ensign? ::To Davis:: Spears/Ren/Blair/Davis/Horne: Response --------------------- LtJG Dave 'Raven' Young Assistant Chief Science Officer USS Constitution-B C239411DY0 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "= UFOP: StarBase 118 - USS Constitution-B" group.
