(( Turbolift - En route to Docking Ring )) ::T'Aven remembered him mentioning his offspring before during their conversation, she turned her head to him. Usually she did not meet many Vulcans sharing their private life with her, though they had shared parts of it before, so she did not think it inappropriate to inquire. :: T'Aven: Did your son accompany you again? Saveron: Affirmative; I considered that exposure to the Romulan culture is beneficial for understanding and the avoidance of prejudice. He is rejoining the ship now that we have docked. Starfleet was only able to secure a slipstream berth for one. T'Aven: Parental presence is beneficial to our offspring. Does he agree with the change of environment during your transfers? Saveron: He does. He has expressed a preference for the experiences associated with space exploration, and with socialising with other species. ::He considered for a moment.:: I believe that he has, at times, regretted some transfers that have separated him from his friends,=C2=A0 but overall he prefers the lifestyle. He has inherited his= father's appreciation for exploration. :: T'Aven could understand that regret of separation from colleagues. She wouldn't call those she had worked with friends, but they had gotten used to each other's style and work ethics. But transfers had resulted in her being the only one of her former squad still being in the same place. She did not regret staying, but the comradery was something she missed at times. It did have the upside of quiet quarters though, in contrast to shared barracks. :: T'Aven: An admirable feat to possess. ::She thought for a moment on= how to continue. She wasn't exactly practiced in conversations, though with Saveron she at least didn't have to pretend to be someone she wasn't or face the odd glance when she took things in jest literally.:: Do you compensate for lack of planetary environment and opportunities? Saveron: I endeavour to provide an appropriate environment to optimise Saavok's development, even as I am aware of the risks of ship-board= life. He has the option of returning to Vulcan to live with his mother, but he finds the expected conformity of Golic culture difficult. :: She inclined her head in understanding. Not every Vulcan culture was for every Vulcan, they had vast differences among them even though many non-Vulcans would not notice them right away. :: T'Aven: It can be a challenge if their native culture is more... re= laxed. Saveron: Do you have any offspring, Lieutenant? :: That question was not unexpected given the conversation, he also knew about her late mate. It still gave her a startle to hear, every now and then. It took her a brief moment, for others barely noticeable, for Vulcans a small eternity, before she could answer. :: T'Aven: I do not. Saveron: ? :: Regret. That was what she felt knowing that their plans had been cut short by his death. She couldn't change it, but as Saveron had said during their first conversation, not all that was true was logical. She still could prefer the past to be different. :: T'Aven: It ... was intended for the future. Saveron: ? T'Aven: If the opportunity arises again I would not be disinclined. ::She paused, it was not a subject she had addressed before other than in her own thoughts and meditation. But she still provided. :: Juvaat and I were of the opinion that there is not only one suitable mate for one person. Saveron: ? ::She placed her hands behind her back, one hand in the palm of the other and cleared her throat. A change of subject, nothing unusual once one subject had been discussed until the end. Either that or the conversation had become too personal. Either way T'Aven felt the need to change. :: T'Aven: It was strongly recommended that I find an activity not relating to my work, so I am on my way to the station for... exploration. Her parents' mumbling voices went past Alana, it was all too much for her. Never had she seen a fire like that, and the pile of ashes in the garden showed how lucky they were that nobody had been inside when it went off. But something felt wrong with what her brother said. Not the words themselves in the first moment, but seeing their gazes, the looks her parents shot over to her every now and then. They were full of shock and something else that the little ten year old girl had never seen before.
