Ensign Jarred Thoran - Diffused (Caraadian Ship)

2017-06-10 22:11:46

((Caraadian Navy Ship, decaying orbit around Debin VII)) Andula: I have no quarrel with you, Starfleet, step aside. This doesn=E2=80= =99t concern you. Zaekia: Please, we're trying to understand what happened. Andula: I hate them! This is their fault. ::Thoran empathised with the woman. Just like him, she had a responsibility= to protect the crew of this ship and now most of them were gone. He hoped = if the situation were reversed, he would not act the same way:: Thoran: This is not the answer. Is this what your friends, your loved ones = would want? I understand your pain. It doesn't seem fair. Andula: Have you not seen the bodies=E2=80=A6 the sheer carnage. Have they = had to attend to dozens of dying men and women without any sort of medical = support? I've lost everything, everyone that was important to me. T= hey let the crew down, they left us to die. ::He could sense both the hatred and sadness in her voice. Thoran decided i= t was time for a bold move. He crouched down and placed the phaser rifle on= the floor, keeping the phaser in its holster. As he stood up he held his h= ands up. Trying to seem as non-threatening as possible, he continued in dia= logue with Andula:: Thoran: Please, stand down. I do not want to hurt you Andula. Enough of you= r people have died already. We have people working on the illness. We need = you and them alive, to find answers. Whoever is responsible for what happen= ed here will be held accountable, you have my word there will be justice. :: Thoran had been moving ever so slowly closer to Andula, whilst keeping h= is body in the firing line of Andula and the Captain. With the fact she had= not attacked them on sight and had not reacted so far, Thoran hoped they w= ould be able to talk her down. .:: Thoran: Why don't you put down the weapon and talk to me, tell me w= hat happened, how you got here? Andula: I don't have time to talk. I'm in the final stage. = I have less than an hour left. Zaekia: I can help. I have medical training. I want to help you Andula, we = both do, but first you have to put down your weapon. :: Security didn't always involve going in guns blazing, in fact of= ten it required diplomacy, tact and an ear. So far, just talking and empath= ising the Captain and Jarred had gotten through to Andula and she seemed to= relax slightly.:: Thoran: Andula, Captain Zaekia and I, we want to help you. We cannot do tha= t whilst you still have a weapon, I've put my down. How about when = this is all over you can tell me about yourself? :: It seemed to do the trick. Andula placed her weapon down and Jarred appr= oached her, cautiously, both because she may have another weapon and also h= e didn't want to seem threatening. :: Zaekia: Come. Tell me how you're feeling. I have a small device her= e I will wave around. It is harmless but will help me to see how your body = is coping and help me devise the best treatment plan. :: Thoran watched as the Captain performed a quick medical exam. He allowed= himself to relax slightly now, and realised how tense he had become since = they left the bridge. He wondered what his father would think if he saw him= now, stood in this dark corridor on an alien ship, having just taken part = in the resolution of a very volatile situation. It was a far cry from what = his life would have been had he studied at the university. Jarred was shake= n from his thoughts by the Captain's voice over the suit's intercom:: Zaekia: =3D/\=3D Thoran, can you please check in with Dr Cook, as discreetl= y as possible. I need an ETA on the cure. If they don't hurry there= won't be anyone left to save here. =3D/\=3D Thoran: ::Jarred tapped a command on the wrist, allowing him to respond pri= vately to the Captain. He understood the reason why the Captain had used a = private channel. The last thing they would want is for Andula to over hear = some bad news that might tip her back over the edge. =3D/\=3D Right away Ca= ptain. =3D/\=3D :: Thoran turned to face away from Andula, making it look l= ike he was inspecting a panel on the wall in an attempt to alert Andula. He= entered a few commands on his wrist console, wiring the Captain into his c= ommunications. A green light lit up confirming the link was active and he t= apped his combadge.:: Thoran: =3D/\=3D Ensign Thoran to Dr Cook, do you have any updates on a cur= e for the plague? We've got survivors up here that won't last much longer. = =3D/\=3D Cook: Response Thoran: =3D/\=3D Acknowledged, thank you for the update Doctor. =3D/\=3D ::He was glad to hear that they were making progress on the surface, but he= was concerned whether there would be time to synthesise enough and adminis= ter the cure to the survivors. He turned back around to face the Andula. Al= though he had faced off with her, he had not really paid attention to her a= ppearance. She looked exhausted, hardly surprising given what she had been = through. Under the exhaustion Jarred could see there was a pretty face. Not= the conventional beauty, but the more tough and rugged beauty. He imagined= that she could scrub up quite well.:: Thoran: ::He walked the few steps to join Andula and Zaekia, leaning his ba= ckside up against barrel that had been left in the corridor. It had been ti= ring reaching this point, but he wasn't ready to give in just yet, especial= ly not in front of the present company =3D/\=3D Captain, what are your orde= rs? We can't really remain in this corridor and although Andula is okay at = the moment, I'm not sure she would remain so if we took her to the bridge. = =3D/\=3D :: Jarred was grateful for his opportunity to work so closely with the Capt= ain, especially at it was his first away mission and Captains were not usua= lly permitted to lead away missions. He felt that he had connected with him= , that the two of them had shown a certain synergy when they first encounte= red Andula, diffusing the situation without any planning or words between t= hem. Most of this was likely down to their training, but Jarred couldn't he= lp thinking they had bonded ever so slightly. To most crewman and junior en= signs a ship's Captain was an almost mythical figure. So far he had been im= pressed with the Captain and hoped the feeling was mutual. He was looking f= orward to his future aboard the ship:: Zaekia: Response Ensign Jarred Thoran < oran> Security and Tactical Officer Andaris Task Force< _Force>, USS Blackwell NCC-58999 A239405JT0 --=20 You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "= UFOP: StarBase 118 =E2=80=93Andaris Task Force" group.
